RECIPE: Spice-cream

Turmeric is no longer reserved for curries. With its unique but subtle flavour, it’s a versatile spice that can complement all kinds of recipes - including ice-cream! This healthy spin on the sweet stuff uses frozen banana to create that creamy consistency we know and love.


  • 3 frozen bananas, sliced
  • ½ - 1 tsp ground turmeric
  • ½ tsp ground ginger
  • ¼ tsp ground cardamom
  • ¼ tsp ground cinnamon
  • Pinch ground cloves
  • Pinch ground black pepper
  • Sliced banana to serve
  • Drizzle of honey to serve


  1. Place all ingredients (aside from those to serve) in a food processor or blender and combine until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
  2. Divide the mixture between two serving glasses.
  3. Top with sliced banana, a drizzle of honey and sprinkle of extra turmeric to serve!
